Name:
Randy Kuper (pronounced “Cooper”) from Chicago. A little background-I’m in my mid-40’s and have been going to Vegas since I was 21. I now go about 3 times per year- once per year with my wife and twice per year with friends. When in Vegas, I am there to eat well, drink plenty, gamble as much as possible, and see shows (only very good shows, otherwise I do not attend any shows). M Life takes pretty good care of me with comps so I’m loyal to their properties. That being said, I love walking the entire Strip and will visit and gamble (lower amounts) at all of the non-M Life casinos.
Favorite hotel:
With friends- Monte Carlo
With wife- Aria
Favorite casino:
Monte Carlo (great service) & Aria (great ambience)
Favorite restaurant:
Peppermill and Oscar’s Steakhouse.
Go to game:
In order- Video Poker (Bonus Poker and Double Double Bonus Poker), Blackjack, 3-card Poker, and sometimes slots.
Vegas cocktail of choice:
Screwdrivers to start the day, beer thereafter. Every now and again, I have to throw in a Gin & Tonic.
What is your favorite Vegas memory to date:
Front row seats at many shows (because I booked very far in advance), and meeting the following people:
Wayne Newton (I know this sounds lame, but it was awesome), Frank Caliendo (great guy, great show), David Spade (really down to earth), Tom Dreesen (comedian that traveled with Sinatra back in the day), Terry Fator (pretty timid guy, but great show), Antonio Esfandiari (professional poker player, super nice guy).
Biggest Vegas Disappointment:
We had front row to see Don Rickles, but the show was cancelled about 1 month before- total bummer!
Any tips for other Vegas fans?
Decide on the amount of spending money and gambling money that you are “okay” losing. Then bring even more. Then you will always go home a winner.
Visit the Neon Boneyard & Mob Museum.
What other Vegas related media to you consume:
Oh boy the list of podcasts is long, but in no particular order- 360 Vegas, Tipping the Odds, Comped Vegas, Five Hundy by Midnight, Gambling with an Edge, You Can Bet on That, Vegas Gang, Vegas Tripping, UNLV Gaming, American Casino Guide, and Gambler’s Book Club.
Also, I watch any TV shows that are Vegas related or have scenes of vintage vegas.
I subscribe to Las Vegas Advisor and read pretty much any book related to Vegas.
Lastly, I follow many vegas related feeds on Facebook & Twitter.
Other comments:
I just appreciate everyone who takes the time to produce all of the above. Because I get to Vegas about 3 times per year, It gets me through the time in between Vegas trips. Furthermore, it gets me more excited as my trips get closer.
