Free parking
How much does parking cost at your average hotel? I have no idea because I’m a Globalist. We don’t pay for parking on free night awards at participating locations where parking can be charged to our room. Parking at hotels is one of my favorite things to do so getting it for free is extra sweet.
Free breakfast
How much does breakfast cost at your average hotel? I have no idea because I’m a Globalist. I had a breakfast buffet at Chicago’s Hyatt Centric. A breakfast buffet at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress. A club access breakfast at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. I can’t put a price on that.
Late checkout
Globalists like myself can checkout at 4:00 PM when available. Do you know how good it is to be checking out when people are checking in? Pretty damn good.
Gift of Honor
Globalists, unlike any other peon in the Hyatt rewards program, can share our benefits with a “Guest of Honor” when gifting them a free night award. I would never gift something like this because none of my friends or family earned Globalist as I did and don’t deserve it, but for the altruistic Globalists out there, this perk is available.
Room upgrades
Standard suites are available as an upgrade at check-in when available. I truly don’t know how people survive in rooms that are less than 400 square feet with only one bathroom. Booking a standard room is essentially a ruse for Globalists. We book what the commonfolk would, but then, gotcha, we go to our dedicated elite check-in line and grab that sweet suite life.
Bragging rights
When it comes to the world of loyalty, there are the haves and the have-nots. Everyone wants to be a Globalist but not everyone can. Do you know how you can tell if someone is a Globalist? Just wait 10 seconds and they’ll tell you. We’re loud and proud as we should be. The hardest thing as a Globalist is being modest about our status. When a family member asks why our breakfast is free or how we scored our suite, we have to pretend like it’s not a big deal, “Oh, I, don’t know, I have decent status so I guess I was just lucky.”
But it’s not luck. It’s because we’ve dedicated ourselves to Hyatt. We use the #Hyatt4Life hashtag on Twitter so people know we and the brand are one. Hyatt may have a small footprint, but their top-tier status is a big deal. I can’t imagine my life without it.
