Three Great Vegas Happy Hours

There are a number of fantastic happy hours in Vegas. As more restaurants come back to full capacity after a long year, I expect more happy hour menus to pop back up. When that happens, I’ll start updating my happy hour master list. Until then, here are three of the best happy hour specials around:

STK – Cosmopolitan

The high-energy steakhouse at Cosmo provides a 777 happy hour: $7, 7 different items, 7 days a week. Notable inclusions of the $7 dishes are a grilled chimi fillet, a crab cake slider, and miso-glazed Chilaean seabass.

You can pair your dishes with 1/2 off specialty cocktails, now $9.50. My preference would be the “Not Your Daddy’s Manhattan” featuring Woodford Reserve, Carpano Antica vermouth, and Peychaud’s bitters. There are 12 cocktails to choose so even those with discerning tastes can likely find something they enjoy. For wine lovers, they offer a cabernet or rosé for $10.

STK Happy Hour: Daily, 4 -6 PM

Downtown Cocktail Room

A dapper, relaxing lounge steps from the hustle of the DTLV experience. There’s a variety of original mixes here, making it a standout not just downtown, but around town. The drinks are great, but what makes this happy hour special is its simplicity. They offer half off everything. While other bars and restaurants typically pare down their menus for cocktail hours, Downtown Cocktail Room keeps the book wide open.

Right now I’m eyeing La Toxica, made with mezcal, coconut liqueur, Yuzu hot sauce, fresh lime, and cantaloupe juice. Though, with the menu at your disposal, there’s no shame in stopping by for a $3 beer or $7.5 pour of Blantons.

Downtown Cocktail Room Happy Hour: Tuesday – Saturday, 5 – 7 PM

Herbs and Rye

An unpretentious proper steakhouse about two miles west of Las Vegas BLVD, Herbs and Rye is where you go if you’re looking for a classic Vegas vibe done right. It has old school flare with new-school cocktail know-how. Their steaks are good too. And this is why it may be the best happy hour around. Steaks are half off. I’m a NY Strip kind of guy. At $24, the drive is well worth it. Paring it with a properly made Old Fashioned is icing on the cake.
